FAISALABAD: The body of a minor boy, who was allegedly kidnapped and subjected to rape on Thursday last, was found from the Ravi on Sunday night while his captor committed suicide by jumping into a canal when police took him to a place for the recovery of the rope and the pistol he used to kill the boy.

Police have retrieved the body of Asad Ali (11), a student of class-II, with the help of Rescue 1122 when they arrested victim’s neighbour Zeeshan, who confessed that he had subjected the boy to rape and killed him to avoid arrest.

Reports said Asad of Mandi Mamunkanjan was kidnapped by unidentified men when he was playing outside his house.

Parents of Asad lived in Kamalia and he was residing with his relatives in Mamunkanjan.

On suspicion, police took Zeeshan into custody and during interrogation he revealed that he threw his body into a canal.

Police had registered a kidnap case on the complaint of Allah Ditta, father of Asad, a day after he had gone missing.

On being informed of the recovery of the body, people gathered outside the police station and demanded the custody of the suspect; however, the police pacified them assuring that he would be penalised.

On Sunday night, police said a team took Zeeshan for recovery of the pistol and rope. When the police reached the spot, the suspect escaped and jumped into the canal.

The police brought him out of the canal and shifted him to hospital where he breathed his last.
