PESHAWAR: The contractual employees of the University of Peshawar on Monday held a protest demonstration demanding regularisation of their services.

The protesters holding banners and placards inscribed with their demands marched from the campus and held a rally outside the Peshawar Press Club. They were shouting slogans for solution to their demands.

Speaking on the occasion, the Contract Employees University of Peshawar president Altaf Khan and general secretary Saifullah Khan said they had been serving on different posts for last 13 years but the university administration was yet to regularise them.

They pointed out that their salaries had also been withheld for past eight months without any reason. They said the university was still understaffed but the administration was reluctant to regularise their services.

Awami National Party provincial spokesperson MPA Samar Haroon Bilour also joined the protesting employees and assured them of full support on part of her party. She said it was duty of the university administration to take prompt notice of the employees’ problems.
