Remand of Haleem, others extended

KARACHI: A local court on Saturday extended till March 24 physical remand of Leader of the Opposition in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh and others in judicial custody.

Police claimed to have detained the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader along with scores of unidentified party activists on charges of blocking highway and obstructing duty of policemen when they tried to persuade them to open the road on Feb 6.

On Saturday, investigating officer Nazar Mangrio produced Sheikh and other suspects before judicial magistrate of Malir amid tight security on expiry of his physical remand in judicial custody.

The judge extended the physical remand in judicial custody till March 24 with direction to the IO to produce them on next hearing along with an investigation report.
