OKARA: Eight prayer leaders from across the district were booked for violating The Punjab Sound Systems Regulation Act 2015.

Muhammad Sadiq from Al Amin Town’s Masjid Minhajul Quran, Qari Jameel Ahmad from Ghafoor Colony’s Masjid Bilal, Qari Shaukat Ali in village 49/2L, Qari Abdullah in 51/2L, Qari Saeed Ahmad in 27/2L, Hafiz Khizar Hayat in Zahidpur near Hujra Shah Muqeem, Qari Naveed Ahmad in Ismailpur near Hujra Shah Muqeem and Qari Naveed Ahmad in Rohaila Matella were making announcements for collecting donations for mosques.

Separate cases were registered against the prayer leaders under Section 6 of the sound systems law.

SUICIDE: A woman died by suicide allegedly after an argument with her in-laws at Muzaffar Colony.

Bilqees Fatima allegedly had an argument with her in-laws after which she went to her parents’ house in the same locality and hanged herself with a ceiling fan.

Saddar police were investigating the incident.
