RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that Pakistani women have contributed immensely for the glory and honour of the nation and they deserve immense respect and gratitude.

In a tweet shared by the director general of the Inter-Services Public Relations Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar on Monday, the army chief paid tribute to women on the International Women’s Day and said they were also at the forefront against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Gen Bajwa said: “Women in uniform have proved their mettle by contributing copiously in diverse fields serving the nation and humanity.”

This year’s theme for International Women’s Day was ‘Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a Covid-19 world’, to celebrate the tremendous efforts by women and girls around the world in shaping a more equal future and recovery from the pandemic.
