ISLAMABAD: Another educational institute in the capital was sealed after cases of Covid-19 surfaced there, sources told Dawn.

Two people lost their lives to Covid-19 in the capital while 221 people were diagnosed with the disease on Monday. During the last 24 hours 4,578 tests were conducted out of which 114 males and 107 females tested positive. Positivity rate in the city was 4.8pc.

The institute, Beaconhouse Newlands, was sealed under the directive of District Health Officer Dr Zaeem Zia after two people were diagnosed with the disease.

It is hereby advised to immediately close down the campus premises till further intimation and conduct thorough disinfection activities as per guidelines issued by Ministry of National Health Services Regulation and Coordination, the order said.

Officials of the capital administration said during the last two days three deaths were reported, one on Sunday and two on Monday; a male patient aged between 40-49 died on Sunday whereas two male patients from the 70-89 age group passed away on Monday. Addresses of the deceased are not known.

They said 52 cases were reported in the age group of 30-39 followed by 39 in 20-29, 34 in 0-9, 32 in 40-49, 24 in 50-59, 20 in 10-19, 14 in 60-69, four in 70-79 and two in 80 and above.

According to officials, 17 cases were reported from F-11, 16 each from Lohi Bher, F-10, 12 from I-8, 11 each from G-7, G-6, 10 each from E-11, I-9, nine each from G-10 G-11, eight each from Bhara Kahu, Khanna, I-10, seven from G-8, six each from G-9, G-13, Sohan, Alipur, Chirrah, five from F-8, four from E-14, three each from Rawat, F-6, two each from Tarlai, F-7, Koral, Kurri, G-5, Kirpa, H-12 and one each from H-13, B-17, E-7, Tarnol, Saidpur and H-11.

Addresses of other cases are not known.
