ISLAMABAD: The Covid-19 infections again saw a decline in the capital city, but it claimed two lives in Rawalpindi on Saturday.

The garrison city, however, reported only 19 coronavirus cases.

The officials of the capital administration said 74 cases were reported on Saturday as against over 100 each during the last three days.

During the last 24 hours 4,382 tests were conducted which detected virus in 47 men and 27 women and the positivity rate stood at 1.6pc, they added.

The officials said 20 cases were reported in the age group of 30-39, followed by 15 in 40-49, 12 in 20-29, nine in 60-69, seven in 50-59, four in 70-79, three in 10-19, and two each in 0-9 and 80 and above.

They said 12 cases were reported from Lohi Bher, followed by seven each from F-11, G-9, five form G-10, four each from E-11, I-19, three each from G-11, I-10, G-8, Sohan, Kurri, two each from Khanna, D-12, D-17, E-7, and one each from I-8, G-13, G-6, G-10, Tarlai, F-8, G-7, Alipur, Koral, F-5, and Rawal Town, while the address of one case was not known.

Rawalpindi

Abida Bibi, 70, a resident of Khyaban-i-Sir Syed, was brought to Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU) on February 26 where she died on Saturday.

Babar Sultan, 50, resident of Faisal Colony, was admitted to Holy Family Hospital on February 26 where he died on Saturday.

In Rawalpindi, as many as 17 new patients arrived in hospitals from Rawalpindi city and Cantonment areas including two from Cantonment, six from Potohar Town and nine from Rawal Town areas. One each arrived from Gujar Khan and Islamabad.

At present 382 active patients are in the district-- 141 are in the hospitals and 241 patients are isolating at home.

Among Covid-19 patients from the district, nine are admitted to Holy Family Hospital, 12 to Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), 24 to Fauji Foundation Hospital (FFH), 25 to Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU), three patients in Red Crescent Corona Care Centre and four in Hearts International Hospital.

Commissioner retired Capt Mohammad Mehmood told Dawn that total 12 patients are in critical condition and on ventilator in Rawalpindi, 36 are on Oxygen and 27 are stable.
