SARGODHA: Lawyers besieged the court of the additional district and sessions judge (ADSJ) on Monday and attempted to lock the court.

A heavy contingent of police foiled their attempt but no one could attend the proceedings.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Anjum Raza Syed had rejected the application of a lawyer, Faiz Ahmad Bakhar, for registration of a case against the Bhalwal deputy superintendent of police (DSP) for allegedly insulting him in his office. After the application was rejected by the judge, the lawyers gathered around the court and raised slogans against him.

Sargodha Bar Association president Adeel Iqbal Sulehria said it was the right of the lawyer to get an order for case registration against the DSP but the judge favoured the police officer.

The lawyers remained present outside the court till 4pm.
