Pre-monsoon alert

Published February 21, 2021

THOUGH a number of approaches have been made to the managements of both the KE and the Cantonment Board Faisal (CBF), no attention has been paid to a critical issue of public safety. The coconut tree visible in the accompanying picture is located near Bibi Amna Park on plot A-178 in Block 10-A of Karachi’s Gulshan-i-Iqbal area.

Live electric wires can be seen touching the coconut tree from all sides and at all angles. When it rains, sparks and smoke on the tree become a common and frightening sight for the residents of the locality. KE and CBF both prefer to keep their silence on the matter of jurisdiction related to their responsibility in this regard.

On behalf of the area residents, I would like to draw the attention of senior KE and CBF managements to sort out the matter at their earliest. With monsoon not too far away, the urgency of the matter cannot be overemphasised.
