KARACHI: The Pakistan Rangers, Sindh on Saturday claimed to have arrested a suspected Lyari gangster from Orangi Town.

A spokesman for the paramilitary force identified the “Lyari gangster” as Ismail and said he was arrested during a joint raid in Orangi Town’s Mominabad neighbourhood.

“He is wanted in many cases including extortion, murder and attacks on police,” he said. “He was hiding in a foreign country to avoid arrest during the Karachi operation. He returned to Karachi last month to activate his criminal gang.”

The spokesman said that the suspect was handed over to police for further investigation.

‘Extortionist’ held

In another raid, the paramilitary force arrested another suspected gangster who was seen in a recent video that went viral on social media threatening a builder and his staff.

The Rangers with the help of footage of closed-circuit television cameras installed in the builder’s office in Gulshan-i-Iqbal identified the suspect.
