KARACHI: ST man injured in firing

KARACHI, Oct 9: A former councillor of the Sunni Tehreek was injured when unknown persons opened fire on him, while a young boy playing in the street was injured in the incident that occurred in Islampura in the limits of Garden police station on Sunday.

Police said Wali Muhammad, 50, a former councillor of the ST was sitting outside his house at Lotus Street, Islampura when two persons on a motorcycle pulled up and opened fire. A four-year-old boy, Suleman, who was playing in the street, also suffered injuries.

Both the injured were rushed to the nearby Civil Hospital where they were admitted for treatment.

In another incident, a woman died of electric shock in Surjani Town.

Police said the woman identified as Shagufta was reportedly using the washing machine when she suffered a severe electric jolt and died on the spot.

Her body was sent to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem examination, police said.
