LARKANA: Villagers and members of Chandia Ittehad held a demonstration outside local press club on Sunday in protest against police for picking up three of their community fellows and later injuring two in ‘staged’ encounters.

The protesters Aamnat Khatoon, Ghulam Mustafa Chandio, Abdul Malik Chandio and others alleged that Qambar-Shahdadkot police had arrested Amir Jan and Mohammad Ali Chandio near Rabi bridge in Qubo Saeed Khan on Jan 19 and then injured them in a staged encounter. They were admitted to Chandka Medical College Hospital, they said.

They said that afterwards Larkana police picked up Abdul Rashid Chandio when he visited the hospital on Jan 23 to enquire after their health. He too was wounded in a staged encounter in the jurisdiction of Waleed police station, they said.

They appealed to Chief Justice of Sindh High Court and Sindh’s IGP to order inquiry into the arbitrary police actions.
