HARIPUR: Residents of Mohallah Rehmatabad of Sera-i-Saleh union council here have demanded of the government and provincial minister for local government Akbar Ayub Khan to construct an access road and initiate work on the gas supply project for their area.

Talking to mediapersons here on Sunday, Mohammad Idrees, Aurangzeb and others said that there were about 500 houses in their locality which had no road for accessing the city by GT Road.

They said that in rainy days they had walk through the muddy track.

They said the rural road should be constructed on priority so that the people, especially elderly and children, could easily access the nearby GT Road and the city.

The villagers also recalled that natural gas was approved for their locality in 2007, but the SNGPL authorities had not yet laid the supply lines.

ROAD ACCIDENT: Four people were injured when two passenger vans collided in Shah Mohammad area, police said here on Sunday.

They said two vans collided near the Passport Office on GT Road and as a result four passengers were critically injured. Those injured were identified as Hamza 22, Nadeem, 26, Faizan, 8, and Saleh Naveed. They were taken to Haripur Trauma Centre where they were admitted.

Meanwhile, a man who was deprived of his rickshaw by three unknown persons two days ago has demanded early recovery of his vehicle, saying it was his only source of earning.

Usman Inayat, a resident of urban area, told mediapersons that three unknown men booked his rickshaw for Kangra Colony and when they reached near Kangra interchange the men snatched the cash and mobile phone from him at gunpoint and drove away his rickshaw.

He said he had lodged a complaint with Kotnajibullah police, but neither his FIR was registered nor the vehicle recovered so far.
