QUETTA: Inspector General of Police Mohammad Tahir Rai on Saturday vowed to eradicate all kinds of terrorism from Balochistan.

Presiding over a meeting after taking charge as the IG of Balochistan at the central police office, he said it was the responsibility of police to make the province a safer place.

“Standard and quick service will be provided to people in all relevant police departments, including registration of FIRs and action against the criminals on complaints of the public,” he said.

Mr Rai said: “As police commander, I believe in teamwork and everyone should be respected as a citizen. The professionalism of police will be used to establish rule of law. We will not forget the sacrifices of our martyrs and the police department will not spare any effort for the welfare of the families of the martyrs.”

He said the morale of police was high and further steps would be taken for police in the province.

He directed the policemen to be friendly with the people and treat all citizens without any discrimination.

Earlier on his arrival at the central police office, the IG was received by his predecessor Mohsin Hassan Butt.

Senior police officers also attended the meeting.
