TAXILA: The Sir Syed Library was inaugurated in Hassanabdal on Saturday in which rare pictures and messages were displayed.

The library was inaugurated on the eve of fifth meeting of Sir Syed Education Society’s board of governors (BoG), which was presided over by former patron area study centre of Peshawar University Prof Dr Sarfraz Khan.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sarfraz Khan said Sir Syed Ahmad Khan with his foresight and understanding guided the Muslims of the subcontinent to the path of knowledge and progress.

He said by following Sir Syed’s teachings, the Muslims had achieved perfection in all sciences and arts.

He said the education society was taking the intellectual legacy of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan to the people from village to village and city to city.

“The purpose of his life is to acquaint his people with the cultural heritage of the forefathers and to awaken their conscience,” he added.

“I was very happy to know about the ongoing academic, literary and educational activities at Sir Syed Education Society and the dedication of the teachers and students here is commendable,” he added.

Lahore Information Technology University’s former director of communications Tahir Parwaz said Sir Syed Ahmad Khan laid the foundation of Muhammadan Anglo Society.

Undoubtedly, Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah termed Aligarh as an arsenal of Muslims of the subcontinent struggled for a free state and made it possible.

Scholar and writer Dr Zahid Hussain Chaughti emphasized the importance of safeguarding cultural values, while also equipping the youth with modern education to enable them to meet challenges at educational, ideological and social front.

He said it was their passion to take the society to the height that Sir Syed Ahmed Khan had dreamed of decades ago.
