GMMC Sukkur

Published

THE Ghulam Muhammad Medical College (GMMC/Civil Hospital) in Sukkur is the only government-run hospital in the city where people from far-flung areas come for treatment. I visited the hospital with my neighbour who was critically ill, but the doctors refused to treat him. One of the doctors even chided a patient when he groaned because of the pain he was suffering from.

Doctors are considered the cream of society. I was astonished to see that if the cream of society behaves in such a manner with the common man, there is hardly anything worth expecting in society.

Owing to the lack of interest by the doctors at GMMC, we shifted the patient to one of the private hospitals where he was duly treated. Unfortunately, the only government hospital in the city lacks both experienced and compassionate doctors.
