GUJRANWALA: The PML-N has finalised its candidate for the by-election in PP-51 and confirmed tickets to Talat Shaukat Manzoor Cheema.
Seven other candidates who wanted the party ticket took back their nomination papers.
The seat had fallen vacant after the demise of Chaudhry Shaukat Manzoor Cheema who died of the coronavirus in June last year.
Eight candidates had filed their nomination papers for the by-poll on the PML-N ticket. They included Talat Shaukat Manzoor Cheema, Imtiaz Azhar Bagri, Mustansar Gondal, Khalid Manzoor Cheema and retired Brigadier Alluddin Waqar Cheema.
Talking to the media, MNA Chaudhry Nisar Cheema said all leaders and workers of the PML-N were united and they would win the by-poll of PP-51.
DASTAGIR: An Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) court extended the protection bail of PML-N leader and former federal minister Ghulam Dastgir Khan till February.
A few weeks back, the ACE had registered a case against Khan for grabbing the state land.
The PML-N leader had got protection bail till Jan 18. On Monday, his lawyers requested Judge Shabbir Hussain to extend his protection
bail because Dastgir Khan was 84 years old and sick and he could not bear the hardness of the winter.
The ACE extended his protection bail.
PROTEST: Shopkeepers of Lunda Bazaar held a protest on Monday against the metropolitan corporation for not allowing them to do their business near Sialkoti Gate and Sheranwala Bagh railway track.
The protesters said they were poor and wait for winter season to sell their products but the metropolitan corporation staff was not allowing them to do their business and take away their goods.
On this occasion, PTI city general secretary Rizwan Aslam Butt assured them to solve their problems.
