PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Democratic Movement spokesman Mian Iftikhar Hussain on Sunday condemned the seizure of a PIA aircraft in Malaysia over a legal dispute, saying it had brought a bad name to the country at the international level.
In a statement issued here, he said the government had failed to realise its claim of bringing change in the people’s fate, but rather added to their woes. He said the sacking of PIA, steel mills and Radio Pakistan employees showed that the government had no plan to give jobs or shelter to people.
Mian Iftikhar, who is also ANP central general secretary, said the government employees, including doctors, paramedical staff and schoolteachers, were on the streets demanding raise in salaries.
“The nation should support the PDM to rid the country of the incompetent government as early as possible,” Mr Hussain added.
He said the PDM leaders would meet at the residence of Maulana Fazlur Rehman in Islamabad on Monday (today) to review the preparations for the protest demonstration to be held outside the Election Commission.
