KARACHI: A sessions court acquitted on Tuesday the chief of the banned Peoples Amn Committee, Uzair Jan Baloch, and another person in a murder case.

The alleged Lyari kingpin along with Taj Mohammad, alias Tajoo; Mohammad Yousuf Baloch; Zafar Baloch; Shahid Rehman; Noor Mohammad, alias Baba Ladla; Mohammad Shahid and Habib Jan Baloch was charged with kidnapping and murdering Noshad in 2012.

On Tuesday, the case came up before additional district and sessions judge (South) Faraz Ahmed Chandio when acquittal applications moved by two accused were taken up.

The judge acquitted two of the accused, including Uzair, of the charges due to lack of evidence against them.

The judge also directed the prison authorities to release them forthwith, if their custody was not required in any other case.

A case was registered under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Kalri police station.

Earlier, Uzair Baloch was produced before the court from prison amid tight security while co-accused Shahid appeared on bail. The judge cancelled his bail and discharged the surety.

On January 7, the same court had also acquitted Uzair Baloch and other accused persons in two identical cases pertaining to attempted murder and encounter with police due to lack of evidence.
