IT is sad to note that professionals of those provinces are generally being preferred for seaport jobs which are landlocked and hence their professionals have virtually minuscule experience of working at any seaport authority.

Obviously, strict merit and technical expertise should be the only criteria for filling out these posts, but to be explicitly biased in favour of provinces other than Sindh, especially in this particular case, definitely belies any logical reason

Needless to say, Port Qasim Authority in Karachi, which controls and operates the second-largest seaport in Pakistan, is no excpetion on this count.

How can those who matter strike off the potential chances of local technical professionals who in all probability have much better prowess and experience to quaklify for working at any seaport authority than those belonging to the two northern provinces that are bereft of any sea coastline?

Lest it be misunderstood, I reiterate that any outstanding Pakistani, regardless of provincial background, should be provided a chance to exhibit his/her professionalism in any reputed organisation.

But advertisements for recruitment for seaports, generally speaking, smack of blatant injustice and prejudice against the people of Sindh, in general, and the people of Karachi, in particular.

Can the domicile of Sindh and Balochistan be openly preferred in the same way if any coveted post for a large-scale public-sector organisation of Punjab or Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is advertised in national dailies?
