LAHORE: PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz says the Broadsheet case has vindicated former premier Nawaz Sharif.

The Broadsheet, the asset-recovery company that was engaged by Gen Musharraf some 20 years ago to investigate the offshore property of Nawaz Sharif, ended up asking the Sharif family for assistance in its desperate bid to secure the outstanding funds owed to the firm by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The firm had earlier also laid claim to four flats at Avenfield House to enforce the payment of the outstanding $22 million owed to the firm by NAB. However, last month the claim was ordered as discharged by the court.

“To make cases against Nawaz Sharif the Broadsheet was paid $22.7m. But to disqualify and punish him, the help of Iqama (work permit) and Judge Arshad Malik was taken respectively. Today the real picture about the Avenfield Apartments has also come to fore vindicating Nawaz Sharif’s honesty and innocence,” Maryam said in a tweet on Tuesday.

She said a dirty game was played to keep Nawaz out of politics.

“Every single pawn involved in this conspiracy against Nawaz Sharif is being exposed with the passage of time by the grace of God,” she said and added the accountability of the conspirators was near.
