TAXILA: The Hazro tehsil administration sealed a brick kiln despite a ban on its operation to control smog and registered a case against its owners.

Despite warnings from the government to suspend their operation their kiln was emitting smoke.

Talking to newsmen on Saturday, Hazro assistant commissioner Shagufta Jabeen said the district administration had ordered all brick kilns on November 9 to suspend their operation to quell the growing threat of smog.

She said that these kiln owners have not acted on the government’s instructions to install environment-friendly zigzag technology.

“We have started a crackdown on brick kilns across the district with day and night teams. We are now checking the kilns in 24 hour shifts,” she added.

She said case had been registered against the owners of the kiln for defying a ban imposed on operation for 70 days.
