MUZAFFARGARH: Lahore High Court Chief Justice (CJ) Muhammad Qasim Khan visited the city to inaugurate a judicial complex in Kot Addu tehsil and also laid the foundation of a similar complex in Muzaffargarh tehsil.

A large number of lawyers, judges, the district bar association president and general secretary as well as newly elected members of the Punjab Bar Council (PbBC) welcomed the chief justice upon his arrival here.

Addressing the lawyers community, Chief Justice Khan said that despite the coronavirus pandemic breaking out last year, the Lahore High Court heard more than 300,000 cases and gave verdicts on merit, while the pending cases will be decided soon.

He said he wished that young lawyers from south Punjab sat the judges exams and joined the judiciary.

He pledged that soon a lawyers colony will be announced, adding that it was because of his efforts that the Punjab government released a grant of Rs25 million for the district bar associations of Punjab due to the pandemic. Judges and seniors members of the PbBC were also present during a lunch hosted at the Circuit House in the honour of CJ Khan.

District Bar Association President Arshad Bhatti demanded a lawyers colony, while Punjab Bar Council member Jam Younis sought quick resolution of the pending cases. He also thanked the chief justice for visiting Muzaffargarh.
