OKARA: The senior vice president of Okara bar and vice president of Dipalpur tehsil bar have become the acting presidents of their respective bars after the Punjab Bar Council (PbBC) Executive Committee suspended the presidents of 14 tehsil and district bars of Punjab for failing to submit voter lists to the committee by Dec 28.

Through an order issued on Tuesday, the executive committee suspended the presidents for failing to comply with its orders despite being served notices, reminders and told telephonically to provide the lists.

It stated that the conduct of these office-bearers amounted to misconduct, and show-cause notices be issued to them as to why proceedings under misconduct not be initiated against them.

Furthermore, the presidents were directed to submit voter lists through special messengers.

Okara District Bar Association Senior Vice President Mian Muhammad Haroon Farooq and Dipalpur Bar Vice President Rana Muhammad Nawaz have been appointed as acting presidents of their respective bars.
