SHEIKHUPURA: A woman who was married three days ago was gang-raped by three people in a field in the limit of the Farooqabad Saddar police on Tuesday.

Reports said the bride spent a day with her parents in Eilanwali village after the wedding ceremony. She with her mother-in-law and three other male family members was traveling in an auto-rickshaw to her laws in Farooqabad on Tuesday.

When they crossed the underpass on the motorway, three people wearing masks intercepted them. They snatched mobile phones, cash and jewellery from the rickshaw riders and later gang-raped the bride.

After the rape, they released the woman and also returned their mobile phones and fled with cash and jewellery. The police have started an investigation.

The inspector general of police directed the district police officer to take stern action and arrest the rapists.

The Farooqabad Saddar police arrested four suspects in the case.
