SUKKUR: A jirga settled an ongoing dispute between two groups of Nandwani tribe by imposing fine on the group whose members had injured a man belonging to their rival group when he resisted their attempt to rob him.

The jirga chaired by Hamzo Khan Nandwani in Hazoor Bux Nandwani village within jurisdiction of Jamal police station in Tangwani, Kandhkot-Kashmore district, late on Sunday evening, heard statements of both sides and found Hadi Bux Nandwani guilty of robbing Hakim Nandwani of the rival Khewro Nandwani group five months ago and injuring him when he offered resistance.

The jirga imposed Rs1.6 million fine on Hadi Bux Nandwani which he readily accepted to pay to the victim.

Both the groups accepted the jirga verdict and ended their hostility by hugging each other.
