Jillani had tested positive for Covid-19 a few weeks ago and was under treatment at a private hospital in Karachi.

He served as an MNA three times and as a member of the Sindh Assembly four times. He defeated PTI leader and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi twice on NA-231 Tharparkar, in 2013 and 2018.

A large number of his supporters from Tharparkar, Umerkot, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Thatta and other districts thronged his ancestral village in Kamaro Sharif to attend the funeral prayers of their spiritual leader.
