LARKANA: The complainant in a gang-rape case on Monday withdrew the charges against two of three suspects by filing an affidavit of a “patch-up” with them and admitting that he had falsely implicated them in the matter.

The complainant had lodged an FIR against the three suspects on December 6 at the Rehmatpur police station accusing them of kidnapping his daughter with intention to subject her to gang rape.

The complainant was accompanying his daughter when he visited the police station on Monday. She visited the two suspects in the lock-up and told the police that none of them was her abductor. The third suspect was, however, not present there. It was gathered that the suspects had sent a team of negotiators to the family a couple of days back for reconciliation. After holding talks with them, the complainant agreed to withdraw the charges.

On Monday, he submitted in court an affidavit of patch-up with two suspects stating that he had lodged the FIR over snatching of his motorcycle by the three suspects. Both the suspects were set free on the basis of the affidavit.

In another gang-rape case registered at the same police station, two suspects were remanded in judicial custody.

Complaints against them were lodged by one alleged victim on Dec 6 and another one, her close relative, on Dec 12, SHO Sartaj Jagirani of the Market police station, who was a member of the relevant joint investigation team, said on Monday.
