Pakistan has reported 1,680 new coronavirus cases for Dec 20 — marking the lowest daily tally of infections since Nov 9 when the country recorded 1,637 cases.

The countrywide breakdown of cases over the last 24 hours is as follows:

  • Punjab: 505
  • Sindh: 737
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 235
  • Balochistan: 17
  • Islamabad: 140
  • Gilgit Baltistan: 5
  • Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 41

Sixty-two people died from the virus in the same time period, down from 80 a day earlier.

The positivity rate, which has been hovering between six to seven per cent recently, has also gone down to 4.8pc.
