KARACHI: Opening of roads ordered

Published October 5, 2005

KARACHI, Oct 4: The Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Local Government, Waseem Akhtar, on Tuesday directed the DCO Karachi to open six under-construction roads before the start of Ramazan-ul-Mubarak.

The roads being opened for public convenience include Stadium Road, Abul Isphahani Road, Business Recorder Road, Altaf Hussain Barelvi Road (Nazimabad to Lasbella), Bara Board to Nazimabad Chowrangi road, Garden Road (from Love Lane Bridge to Bara Board) and one track of the University Road.

In a communiqué to the DCO Karachi, the adviser said that besides provision of other facilities during Ramazan, all possible efforts should be made to avoid traffic jams and help people reach their homes on time. For that purpose, major closed roads should be opened up before Ramazan, he added.

Mr Waseen personally visited various parts of the city and took stock of problems being faced by people due to traffic jams.—APP
