ISLAMABAD: The president and chief executive officer of the Pakistan Telecommun­ication Company Limited (PTCL) and Ufone, Rashid Khan, passed away on Thursday morning after a prolonged illness.

Mr Khan took charge of Ufone in August 2017 and was later appointed as the CEO of the PTCL Group in March 2019.

He is acknowledged for taking various successful initiatives at the group level, particularly for modernising the PTCL and Ufone networks and enhancing customer experience.

Mr Khan remained at the senior management positions in the telecom industry in various companies locally and internationally.

He is considered as one of the pioneers in the Pakistan telecom industry and respected for his contributions.

The PTCL and Ufone family offered condolences to the family.

Jazz has also expressed grief over the demise of Rashid Khan, the company’s former CEO (2008-14).

The PTCL and Ufone have said that Mr Khan will be remembered as an exceptionally successful business leader who was also a great human being, having humility, compassion and respect for his colleagues.

Expressing his condolence, Jazz CEO Aamir Ibrahim said: “Rashid Khan was a wonderful human being and a thorough professional.”
