ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Wednesday finalised UK-based consulting firm ‘Frontier Economics Ltd’ for spectrum auction of 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz bands.

The PTA had invited bids for the auction and received 12 bids from various firms.

After detailed evaluation, the PTA finalised UK-based consultant in accordance with the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority rules in the presence of five technically qualified bidders out of which three were physically present while two joined the meeting via video link.

After the completion of formalities, the successful consultant is expected to formally sign a contract.

Meanwhile, a PTA official said the Spectrum Auction Pakistan, 2020-21 focused on regulatory consistency for investors and increases the mobile broadband proliferation that will also have an impact on the overall economic growth of the country.

The consultant would devise strategy for 1800 and 2100 MHz spectrum auction in light of the international best practices suited for Pakistan’s telecom market.
