KARACHI: Askari Alphas Club and Bahria Club beat their respective rivals to storm into the semifinals of the 5th Essa Lab Basketball tournament on Monday.

In the first match, Bahria Club edge past Usman Club 50-42. Bilal Khan (22 pts) was the architect of victory and was well supported by Hammad Khan (14 pts) and Zunair Ali (12 pts).

For the runner-up, main scorers were Hasan Iqbal (12 pts) while Hamza Khwaja, Mohammad Daniyal and Daniyal Marwat scored 10 points each.

In the second match Askari Alphas overcame stiff challenge from Arambagh Club to win 46-42. For the winners Sufwanullah (18 pts) stole th limelight with brilliant game. He was well assisted by Saifullah Sherwani (14 pts) and Shahmeer Zaheer (13 pts).

For the runners-up, Asad Hafeez (16 points) played superbly and was well assisted by Desh Kumar and Muneeb Ahmed scored 10 points each.

Meanwhile, the Karachi Basketball Association announced that the last date of entry for the Quaid-e-Azam SSB Cup 303 is Dec 22 by 8:00pm and the teams can register with KBBA secretary Tariq Hussain.
