RAWALPINDI: A young man was shot dead during an armed robbery in Sadiqabad, according to police.

Mohammad Shahzad, one of the employees of a milk shop, was murdered one of four unidentified robbers who raided the shop and held its employees at gunpoint.

Mohammad Arshad lodged an FIR with the police, which states, that Shahzad had been working at a milk shop when four unidentified persons raided the shop and snatched Rs400,000 from the shop keeper.

He said Shahzad argued with the suspects, following which one of them shot him. They later escaped with the cash.

Separately, two suspected robbers attempted suicide during remand custody in the lock up of Jatli police station on Monday night.

Police said A.R and S.K had been arrested for their involvement in several robberies and had been languishing in the lockup where they attempted to commit suicide. The duty officer rushed to their rescue and provided them first aid.

The investigating officers were to recover the loot from both suspects and they tried to commit suicide to avoid further investigation, police said.
