QUETTA: The provincial cabinet approved a five-year education plan (2020-25) on Monday.

The plan has been prepared in collaboration with Global Partnership for Education, a multi-stakeholder partnership and funding platform that aims to strengthen education system in developing countries to increase the number of children in schools.

The cabinet meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani, was informed that financial requirements for the plan would be mobilised and met by the provincial government and its partners.

Official sources said that the cabinet meeting discussed a long agenda and approved signing of an MoU with Sehar Organisation for implementing Environmental Resources Management (ERM) project. Under the project, Alternate Learning Programme (ALP) centres would be established in Chagai and Pishin districts of Balochistan where 10 to 14-years-old 500 Afghan refugees and children of host communities would be given admission.

The provincial government has already set up 81 ALP centres in collaboration with Unicef.
