KARACHI: An 85-year-old woman was murdered in the Gulberg area on Saturday allegedly by her housemaid who was seen committing a theft inside the home, police said.

They added that the body of Noor Jahan was found in her home in Block 5 of FB Area. It was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors confirmed that she was strangled, said area SHO Farrukh Hashmi. Other family members were asleep in the upper portion of the home at the time of the incident.

The police arrested two suspected employees, Arifa and her husband, Allen.

The officer said that during initial probe the held housemaid, Arifa, “confirmed” that she killed the old woman after the maid was caught red-handed while committing a theft in the home. She got panicked and decided to kill her. The SHO said that her husband was also involved in it.
