ISLAMABAD: Top seed Tayyab Aslam, in his opening encounter of Pakistan International Squash Tournament, beat Noor Zaman in straight but well contested three sets here at Mushaf Squash Complex on Tuesday.

Tayyab who had moved into second round directly on the basis of his ranking, took 25 minutes to beat his opponent Noor (11-1, 11-9, 11-9). He outclassed his opponent in opening set with his speed and accuracy and did not allow him to settle down. He won the first set 11-1. But in next two sets, Zaman made a good come back, but his efforts were inadequate to win the sets.

In the women’s event, top seeded players Amna Fayyaz, Faiza Zafar, Madina Zafar and Moqaddas Ashraf easily moved into next round with facile wins.

The tournament carries international ranking but it is being participated only by Pakistani players as Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) got special permission from PSA in this regard so that the players get the opportunity to grab international points.
