Suhail Lari dies of Covid-19

KARACHI: Noted historian Suhail Zaheer Lari, who is also the husband of renowned architect Yasmin Lari, passed away here on Saturday due to complications caused by Covid-19. He was in his early 80s.

Family friends said that Mr Lari was admitted to a private hospital last week after he tested positive for Covid-19.

“Suhail Zaheer Lari was educated at Allahabad, Lahore, Karachi and Oxford,” according to his official website that contains details of his professional contribution.

It said he authored dozens of books including An Illustrated History of Sindh, Neither Islamic nor Persian, Meri Mitti Key Log, Meri Society Key Log, Makli under the Samma, Makli under the Mughals, Makli under Timurid, Makli under the Sufi.

He along with his wife co-founded the Heritage Foundation of Pakistan in 1980.
