BAJAUR: Unidentified assailants shot dead two tribal elders in separate incidents in Salarzai tehsil of Bajaur tribal district, police officials and residents said on Wednesday.

They said Malik Sadat Khan and Malik Shahzollah Khan were killed in front of their homes in the remote Litai locality on Tuesday night.

They said families of the victims along with neighbours tried to catch hold of the attackers, but they managed to flee.

SHO of Chargoo police station told reporters that bodies of the elders had been handed over to their families after postmortem in the District Headquarters Hospital, Khar.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks. A senior police official said they had launched investigation into both the incidents.
