Dr Mohammad Farooq, the additional director of Khalifa Gulnawaz Teaching Hospital, Bannu, has passed away due to complications caused by Covid-19, Provincial Doctors Association said.

Dr Farooq was on a ventilator in the North West Hospital in Peshawar. The number of doctors who have passed away due to the novel coronavirus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has now risen to 25, the association said.

The body regretted that the health workers and doctors who have passed away due to Covid-19 have not been given the status of martyrs by the government. The government has neither provided risk allowance to health workers, nor granted the Shuhda Package to victims' families.
