Vehicle tax issues

Published December 2, 2020

IT is a matter of great distress that the authorities have withdrawn the facility of depositing vehicle tax at designated branches of the National Bank of Pakistan. It is strange that instead of facilitating the public and removing hurdles in the way of tax payment, the decision-makers have centralised the whole affair just down to the Civic Centre in the Gulshan-i-Iqbal area of Karachi.

Do they realise that in a city of about 20 million people, depositing the vehicle tax every June and December is not only an uphill task, but is actually humanly impossible. Besides, the kind of treatment that is meted out to individuals approaching the said centralised office for any task is nothing but a public secret.

I request the relevant authorities to restore the longstanding arrangement of depositing the vehicle tax at designated bank branches.
