SAHIWAL: The district police claim to have traced eight blind murders, smashed 32 criminal gangs and captured 2,076 absconders during the past 11 months.

Addressing a joint press conference on Monday, District Police Officer Amir Taimoor and Regional Police Officer Tariq Abbas Qureshi said police recovered 1,215 pistols, 26 carbines, 49 rifles, 80 shotguns, 17 revolvers, 12 kalashnikovs and stolen items valuing at Rs181 million.

Police also recovered 14, 02, 01, 249, stolen cars, trucks, tractor, and motorcycles, respectively.

Police registered a total 8,915 criminal cases among which 1,335 and 1,113 were about property and against persons, respectively.

The district police officer said police recovered 10.50 kg, 480 kg, 17 kg and 20,043 liter heroin, hashish, morphine and alcohol, respectively.

The regional police officer while talking to the media said police used modern scientific techniques including forensic analysis, mobile tracking, DNA tests, finger prints and mobile unit laboratory in tracing criminals.

“The Punjab police are committed to increase its professional capabilities not only in countering crimes but also providing a sense of security to citizens.”
