LAHORE: Justice Mirza Viqas Rauf of the Lahore High Court will take up on Monday a petition against non-provision of special judicial allowance to the court employees despite being approved by the governor.

Senior court associate Akmal Khan filed the petition pleading that the additional finance secretary had issued a notification on July 31, 2019 with the approval of the governor for the provision of special judicial allowance to members of the high court’s establishment.

However, he submitted that the hierarchy at the Punjab accountant general’s office deliberately and knowingly failed to implement the governor’s orders despite repeated reminders.

He argued that the accountant general or finance secretary had no jurisdiction to raise any objection or interpret the order of the governor.

The petitioner asked the court to order the respondents to implement the orders in light of the notification issued by the finance department.
