RAWALPINDI: A man was retrieved from debris after a buffalo shed collapsed in rain in Iqbal Colony on Wednesday night.

More than 12 buffaloes were also trapped in the rubble.

According to police and rescue services, Asghar Hayat, 40, was rescued shortly after the incident was reported while efforts to pull out the trapped animals were underway.

Separately, police have arrested a suspected robber who was injured during an encounter in Naseerabad.

Sources said an exchange of gunfire took place when four people on two motorcycles did not stop on being signalled, and instead opened fire on the police team. In the exchange, one suspect was injured while the other escaped. The injured was shifted to hospital amid tight security while raids were being carried out to arrest the rest.
