KARACHI: A woman and her young daughter were killed in a road accident on the Superhighway in the early hours of Thursday, said Sachal police.

They added that the family was travelling in a car and were on their way home in Metroville-III when a four-wheeler apparently due to overspeeding overturned near Bismillah restaurant.

As a result, Shumaila Kamran, 34, and her mother Sajida Nasir, 55, were killed while her two children namely Zarsha, 12 and Hasnain, nine, were injured.

The deceased and the injured were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. The police said the family did not want to pursue the case.

Motorcyclist dies in accident

Separately, a motorcyclist was killed in an accident on main Korangi Road.

Police said that Faheem, 34, was riding a motorbike when a dumper truck hit him near the Akhtar Colony traffic signal.

He suffered critical injuries and was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Suspect shot dead

An alleged robber was shot dead by a security guard during a robbery bid in Shah Latif Town on Thursday evening, said police.

They added that four armed suspects entered a supermarket, snatched the rifle from one security guard and tried to snatch cash from the cashier at the counter.

However, another security guard opened fire, compelling suspects to flee in panic.

One of the suspects identified as Abdul Rehman, 35, was shot dead while his three accomplices escaped.

The body was taken to the JPMC for medico-legal formalities.
