KARACHI: Several employees’ association, including the elected CBA, of the Karachi Port Trust have demanded Maritime Affairs Minister Ali Zaidi to order an inquiry into alleged financial irregularities in payment of millions of rupees under the head of lawyers fees.

The Muttahida Workers Front of KPT (CBA) also asked the Minister Ali Zaidi and KPT chairman Jamil Akhtar to order an impartial probe into the allegations and save prestige of the organisation.

The unions appealed to the minister as well as maritime affairs secretary to hold the inquiry against the legal affairs manager and a former manager of human resource in a matter pertaining to appointments of scores of officers without the approval of the ministry in 1989 and 1995.
