KARACHI: Umeed Fazli passes away

KARACHI, Sept 29: Noted poet Umeed Fazli died after protracted illness late Wednesday night. He was suffering from kidney ailment for the last three years. The septuagenarian poet leaves behind a widow, two sons and three daughters. He was shifted to a hospital where he died.

He had command of various kinds of poetry including ghazal, geet, marsia, nazam, etc, and besides Darya Akhir Darya Hai, he had many other poetry books to his credit.

Rich tributes were paid to the late poet, who was a stylist of great literary merit and aesthetic proficiency, at a condolence meeting organized by the Anjuman Taraqi Urdu Pakistan.

PPP Sindh chief Qaim Ali Shah, Jameeluddin Aali, Aftab Ahmad Khan, Fatima Hassan and others have, in their condolence messages, prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and fortitude to the bereaved family.
