National senior hockey starts
RAWALPINDI: A total of five matches were decided on the first day of the National Senior Hockey Championship here at the Mari Petroleum Hockey Stadium, Ayub Park on Thursday.
Pakistan Navy beat the Port Qasim Authority (PQA) 6-2 in the first match. Ali Sher and Noman Janjua scored two goals each for Navy.
Mohammad Safir scored twice as Pakistan Army outclassed Police 9-1 while Samiullah’s brace saw Wapda outplay Punjab 8-2.
In the day’s fourth match NBP beat PAF 4-2 with Junaid Manzoor striking two goals for the winning side.

Ram shines as Rohi CC win
KARACHI: Promising Ram Ravi bludgeoned a blistering half-century to help Rohi CC whip Mahad Sports by six wickets in their Master CT 20 Color Kit Cricket League fixture at the RLCA Ground here on Wednesday.
In the other match, KL Tigers defeated Colony Gymkhana by seven wickets.

Usman Club win basketball opener
KARACHI: Usman Club beat Arambagh Club 48-40 in the opening match of the Inverex Trophy basketball tournament here at the Arambagh-Abdul Nasir court on Wednesday night.
Hafiz Hamza Khwaja with 18 points was the architect of victory while Shariq Suleman (15) was the main scorer for the losing side.
CEO Inverex Zakir Ali inaugurated the event and said his organisation supports sports in a big way and will hold boys and girls basketball tournaments next year.—Agencies
Newage Cables qualify for final
LAHORE: Newage Cables outplayed Guard Group/Platinum Homes 8½-2 in their Total Nutrition Polo Cup semi-final here at Lahore Polo Club ground on Thursday.
Edward Banner Eve, Syed Aun Rizvi, Adnan Jalil Azam and Alman Jalil Azam contributed two goals each for the winners, who had a half-goal handicap.
