MIRPURKHAS: A large number of growers held a demonstration in Sindhri taluka on Wednesday in protest against shortage of irrigation water in Saeedi Shakh.

The protesters led by Arshad Arain, Mir Khan and Yar Mohammad Shar raised slogans against irrigation officers and condemned them for depriving their channel of water despite repeated complaints.

They said that SDO concerned and other irrigation staff had deliberately stopped supply of water into the Saeedi Shakh, causing their crops to wither away. They wanted to force them to pay them bribe for water, they said. They demanded Sindh chief minister, secretary of irrigation, chairman of SIDA, director of Nara Canal and XEN of Mithrao Canal to ensure supply of water into their channel and punish the officials responsible for the shortage.
