Second phase of anti-polio drive begins

KARACHI: The Emerg­ency Operation Centre for Polio (EOCP) in Sindh on Monday launched the second phase of anti-polio drive in different divisions of the province to administer polio drops to about six million children of whom more than two million reside in Karachi.

The first phase of the fresh polio campaign started in Sindh on Oct 26 in Sukkur, Larkana and Shaheed Benazirabad and ended on Nov 2. The target was 3,475,288 children under five years of age.

The second phase started on Monday (Nov 2) and will continue till Nov 9 in the rest of Sindh’s divisions, including Karachi, and will cover approximately six million children.
